Tiger Jawfish

The Tiger Jawfish (Opistognathus randalli), also known as the Black Cap Jawfish, is a peaceful, reef safe fish. They are hardy and should be kept with other docile fish. You may keep more than one in an aquarium as long as there is enough space for them to maintain their own territories and burrows. They require at least 2″ of sand, bits of rubble and some rock work. Tiger Jaws may eat the smaller shrimp species like Sexy and Anemone Shrimp. Jawfish personality is fun to watch and it often looks like they are watching you back. They can be shy feeders and should be offered mysis, brine, and other meaty foods. They can be housed in a 25+ gallon tank and reach a maximum size of roughly 4″. Please use a cover as they are prone to jumping.
