Knopia octocontacanalis, commonly known as Jasmine Polyps, is a soft coral admired for its delicate, daisy-like polyps that resemble tiny white or green jasmine blossoms. It forms dense mats of tightly packed polyps with feathery tentacles and subtle movement, creating a soft, waving carpet effect in the aquarium.
Often mistaken for Clavularia or Anthelia due to its colonial growth and appearance, Knopia is genetically distinct and remains a relatively rare offering in the hobby. It is ideal for both beginners and experienced reefkeepers looking to add texture, motion, and a natural aesthetic to their reefscape.
Jasmine Polyps are photosynthetic and do not require direct feeding, though they benefit from occasional supplementation with amino acids and trace elements to promote growth and polyp extension.
They prefer indirect flow that allows gentle waving of the tentacles. Too much flow may cause polyps to retract; too little can cause debris accumulation. Avoid placing them next to aggressive corals, though they are peaceful themselves and wont harm neighbours.
Propagation is easy via mat fragmentation, making them a good candidate for sustainable aquaculture.

Place Knopia in the bottom to mid-section of the aquarium where lighting is not too intense and flow is gentle but consistent. It can spread over live rock, rubble or plugs. Keep in mind its matting natureregular trimming may be necessary to prevent overgrowth in mixed coral setups.
The Jasmine Polyps are a graceful soft coral that brings elegance, colour harmony, and dynamic motion to any reef. Low-maintenance and fast-growing, theyre perfect for hobbyists who appreciate understated natural beauty.
