Africana Soil replicates the natural red soils of tropical regions, adding a warm, earthy tone that complements a wide range of aquascaping styles.

ADA Africana Powder is the fine-grain version of the original Africana substrate, ideal for nano aquariums, carpeting plants, and tissue culture planting. It shares the same natural composition and soft-water buffering properties as standard Africana but features a much finer texture, allowing for easier planting, better root contact, and greater stability for small or delicate plants.

This powder-type soil is especially useful when establishing dense carpets or working with tissue culture species, helping roots anchor firmly and promoting healthy, even growth. It can be used on its own in small tanks, or as a top layer over standard-grain Africana to assist with planting and aesthetic detail.

While Africana Powder has a lower nutrient content compared to nutrient-rich soils like ADA Amazonia, this is easily addressed by supplementing with root tabs and liquid fertilisers such as the ADA Brighty series. This allows you to maintain a cleaner water column, benefit from minimal ammonia leaching, and achieve a faster cycling process, all while supporting healthy plant development.
