Cryptocoryne parva is the smallest species of the Cryptocoryne genus in the hobby, and is native to Sri Lanka. With its compact size and unique characteristics, it is a sought-after aquatic plant for aquascapes, and is an excellent choice for foreground planting in aquariums due to its tiny and compact size.
Best used in the foreground, it is a preferred foreground plant due to the fact it doesn’t develop runners making it easy to maintain, it is best planted in dense groups.
It requires higher light levels compared to most other Cryptocorynes, as it can lose its leaf plate in low-light environments. Ensure it is not overshadowed by other plants.
Known for its slow growth, little maintenance is needed other than removing old or damaged leaves. The addition of nutritional capsules in the substrate will significantly enhance its development.
Unique among Cryptocorynes, it retains its leaf shape and colour regardless of cultivation conditions, ensuring a consistent appearance whether grown underwater or emersed.
