The Stars & Stripes Puffer (Arothron hispidus) is a semi-aggressive fish that is not reef compatible. It will eat invertebrates. It needs a 72″+/180+ gallon aquarium, when full grown. The aquarium should have plenty of space to swim around and a good protein skimmer for nutrient removal. When threatened, or scared, Puffers have the ability to inflate their bodies. Please transfer puffers from the bag to the aquarium, or acclimation container, while submerged, using a bag or container instead of a net. There are health risks to the fish if they inflate with air, rather than water. The diet of this fish should contain meaty foods like krill, squid, clams, and hard shelled shrimp to help wear down their teeth. Max size is around 18″. Shipping size is small/medium (2″ – 4″).
