Why do we need to know the pH of the water.

The ph indicates the acidic or alkaline state of the water (ph equal to 7 is neutral, alkaline is when it is greater than ph 7, and acidic is when it is less than ph 7). Most fish species can adapt around ph 7, but some species have particular water preferences, such as species less than ph 7: discus, amazon cardinal, prefer ph 6 – 6.5. Species greater than ph 7: marine fish ph 8.4, African cichlids ph 7.5 – 8.

Correct ph parameters keep fish happy and healthy.
