Salt is one of the oldest and best treatments for maintaining Koi health and treating fish diseases. Our salt is 99% pure made from evaporated sea water. Do not use regular Table Salt as a couple of the ingredients can be toxic to fish! See below for recommended treatment rates. Most water plants can tolerate up to about 1-1/2 pounds of salt per 100 gallons of pond water.

• Low Level Treatment: 1-2 pounds Salt per 100 gallons pond water. This is the perfect amount of salt to maintain in the water to protect Koi from nitrite toxicity, reduce osmotic stress and enhance their slime coat.
• Medium Level Treatment: 3 pounds Salt per 100 gallons pond water. This level equalizes the amount of salt in the pond water with the amount of salt in the blood, which eliminates osmotic stress (Koi have to pump water out of themselves constantly when the amount of salt in the water is less than the amount of salt in their blood). This is the perfect level for handling Koi! Also, this level will treat many common parasitic organisms, if maintained for 2 weeks. We recommend that homeowners dilute this concentration by 50% after a 2 week period.
