Cichlid Lake Salt

The 250 and 500 gram container ofSeachem Cichlid Lake Saltis a chemically sound blend of salts designed to imitate the natural environment of Rift Lake African cichlids. The formula contains all essential elements such as magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium and includes trace components such as iron, aluminum, and iodide to ensure optimal health and physical development. It does not contain harmful or unnecessary ingredients such as nitrates, phosphates, arsenic, lithium, or cadmium. The major African Rift Lakes contain basically the same mineral salts, but they do so in greatly differing concentrations. Seachem Cichlid Lake Salt is formulated so that the appropriate dosages of salt reflect the lake of origin, and only need to be added when initially setting up an aquarium or when conducting water changes.

Directions:

All doses given for 40 L (10 US gallons).

• Tanganyika: Use 11 g (1.5 teaspoons)
• Malawi: Use 5.5 g (3/4 teaspoon)
• Victoria: Use 3.6 g (1/2 teaspoon)

Dosages are based on DI or RO water; for any other water, be sure to measure the hardness (GH) levels first, then add the Cichlid Lake Salt according to your need. For reference, the Tanganyika dose raises dGH by 8.8 units. The Malawi dose raises dGH by 4.4 units. The Victoria dose raises dGH by 3 units.

We recommend the following GH ranges:

• Tanganyika: 35.5 meq/L (814 dGH)
• Malawi: 1.53meq/L (48 dGH)
• Victoria: 12 meq/L (36 dGH)
